Route to Dream

Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about Route to Dream motorcycle tours — level, documents, bike, weather and booking.

How much experience do I need?

It depends on the tour. Each route has a level from 1 to 5 and a “Who this tour is for” section. If in doubt, message us on WhatsApp.

What documents do I need?

It depends on your nationality and on where your bike is registered: you will need a valid passport or national ID accepted by each country, your driving licence and the bike’s registration papers (with the owner’s authorisation if it is not in your name). Each country also requires compulsory vehicle insurance: Carta Verde (Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay), SOAPEX (Chile) and SOAT (Peru and Bolivia). On our tours they are included whenever they appear under “What’s included”. Before the trip we send you the full list and check your documents with you.

Can I bring a pillion or ride in the support vehicle?

Yes. Both appear as optional extras on each tour page.

How do booking and payment work?

Message us on WhatsApp and we will send you the payment conditions for your chosen departure. Cancellation and refund rules are set out in the contract for each departure.

What bike do I need?

There is no fixed minimum engine size: we assess the bike and the rider’s experience for each tour. A service before the trip is mandatory. On Atacama Full Adventure a rental bike is included; on all other tours you ride your own.

What if my bike breaks down?

On tours with a support vehicle, it carries tools and a trailer to transport the bike. When needed, our team arranges a tow truck to the nearest workshop.
